The Frida Festival is entering its 20th year and originated in the East End of Houston, TX. Our 2018 – 2024 festivals had over 30,000 attendees and were held in various locations including the Hardy & Nance Studios, Navigation Esplanade and Discovery Green.
This year the celebrations will be at Discovery Green and TBH during the month of May.

An art exhibit opening will take place at MECA TBH Campus. This exhibition will showcase contemporary artists from across Texas who have been influenced by Frida’s work. The goal of the exhibit would be to provide visitors with a deeper understanding of Frida Kahlo’s art, life, and cultural impact, and to inspire them to continue exploring and appreciating her work.

All work must be original creations of the artist submitting the application. No reproductions of original work by other artists or Frida Kahlo’s original pieces will be accepted. We are looking for original pieces that incorporate Frida’s legacy and or inspiration. All mediums are welcome, work must be reviewed and accepted by the curator.
Deadline to apply is Friday, April 25th at midnight CMT.
