Viva Frida!
The Frida Festival is entering its 18th year and originated in the East End of Houston, TX. Our 2018 – 2021 festivals had over 30,000 attendees and were held in various locations including the Hardy & Nance Studios, Navigation Esplanade and Discovery Green.
This year the celebrations will expand to various locations & events throughout the month of April.

MECA East End at TBH

An art exhibit opening will take place at MECA TBH Campus. This exhibition will showcase Contemporary artists from across Texas who have been influenced by Frida’s work. The goal of the exhibit would be to provide visitors with a deeper understanding of Frida Kahlo’s art, life, and cultural impact, and to inspire them to continue exploring and appreciating her work.
Frida en Primavera Dinner + Fashion Show

The Ballroom at Bayou Place

Patrons will enjoy an evening inspired by Frida’s iconic style, which was known for its bold colors, intricate patterns and use of floral motifs. Local designers will style models and showcase their interpretations on the runway. This will take place in the beautiful Ballroom at Bayou Place in the heart of Downtown Houston.

The month will end with the 18th annual Frida Festival taking place at MECA in the historic Dow School building. It will feature local musicians and performers along with an arts market with a wide range of merchants, vendors, artisans and one-of-a-kind finds. We will also have our famous Frida look-alike contest for all ages. This year we will facilitate the contest online with an announcement of the winner at the Frida Festival.
